Strategic Plan (2018 - 2023)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Since 1990, Wicomico Day School has been providing child care and educational instruction to children in Salisbury and the surrounding communities of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Beginning with our youngest otters up to and including 8th grade students, our teachers and staff strive daily to carry out the mission and vision of the school while honoring the core values upon which the school was established. We will collectively honor the legacy of WDS while making the necessary adjustments and additions for all students to rise to the considerable challenges and opportunities awaiting them.
It is my pleasure to begin the Wicomico Day School Strategic Plan for the five-year period of 2018-2023. This plan serves as a road map for our teachers and administrators to provide countless opportunities for all students to achieve educational excellence. The faculty and staff of WDS are committed to promoting teaching and learning in an environment that is inviting, challenging and exciting. Our goal is to see all students perform at their highest potential through academic challenges, high-powered instruction and curriculum offerings promoting an optimal level of critical thinking, learning and real-world application.
The strategic plan will address seven key areas critical to the success of the school and appropriate for our changing world: safety, curriculum, professional development, teaching, technology, finance, admissions and marketing, By focusing our instruction, our students will exit Wicomico Day School as improved consumers of today’s information through problem-solving, investigating and questioning. Our teachers will act as classroom facilitators while students develop 21st century skills of collaborating, communicating, analyzing, cooperating with one another, creating and competing in a supportive environment. The strategic plan is fluid; it is subject to minor changes, adaptations and additions that will improve our school at all levels. Your suggestions are welcome and will be duly considered.
Sincerely yours,
Jeannie Schweikert
Administrative Head of School
